Teething Toys or Teethers: This is one of the best options for the babies to soothe teething pain. The babies love to chew and the gumming action provide counter pressure on the teeth and pushes them up in the mouth. This mechanism causes immense relief for the babies. A number of teethers are available in the market and online.
- The traditional teethers used to be of wooden material that were light in weight and easy to handle by the babies but now-a-days silicon teethers are available in the market. These are medically proven and are not harmful at all for your baby. You can purchase different types of teethers, such as- rounded or pointed.
- Another natural soother to your teething will be your clean finger. Just clean your finger properly and wipe it with a clean cloth, put it in your baby's mouth and let them chew it for some time. You can also offer a mild massage to the sore gums. This is the best teethers of all.
- You can also get a finger brush from the market, you just have to wear it in your finger and put it in your baby's mouth. Let them chew it or you can rub a bit on their sore gums. The brush has very soft and minute bristles that are safe for a 6 month old.
Cold Temperature: Another big soother to your irritable baby is the cold temperature remedy.
- Refrigerator: Keep the teething toys in the refrigerator for a few minutes and offer it to your baby. The cooling sensation will relieve the pain immediately.
- Similarly, you can keep a wet clean cloth too in the refrigerator and that can be offered later for chewing.
- Instead of giving warm water to your baby, provide them cold water. The temperature needs to be cool, it should not be chilled else they may encounter cold.
- You can also try to give them fruits purees that are cooler in comparison to the food that your offer. Remember, the fruits do not have to be straight away taken out from the refrigerator and offered. Keep them out for 2-3 hours and then make a puree and offer them. This should be offered in baby feeder mesh bag else it may encounter choking.
Medicines/ Pain Relievers: If the above mentioned techniques do not work, i.e. In spite of Chewing, Rubbing, Sucking you baby is still cranky and crying please see for a doctor. He is the right person to be reached. Your baby's pediatrician can provide you with some pain relieving medicines that can save you and your baby from this pain.
